Lockdown was never going to get in the way of our commitment to mentoring young students, bringing out the best in them and helping to give them the confidence and skills needed for their first jobs … and indeed, life!
Part of our partnership with Career Ready, we’re excited to now be taking part in its new ‘Skills Festival’ – an eight week series of career and skills development workshops – all carried out online, particularly as many students have had internships cancelled. Students who have signed up to the Career Ready scheme will be able to participate in a mix of one-to-one and groups sessions led by different employers from a range of industry sectors.
We’re looking forward to inspiring the students about the world of PR in our ‘Industry Insights Workshop’ that will be attended by over 50 pupils from all across the UK. A number of our team will walk students through a ‘day in the life’ of a PR, as many may not know it exists as a career option. Our interactive one-to-one sessions will also include mock interviews and CV clinics with constructive feedback and practical tips.
The Festival is just part of work we do with Career Ready … now in our second year, our Board members each mentor three different students from a sixth form school across an entire year. Since 2002, Career Ready has transformed over 150,000 young lives, boosting social mobility by connecting 11-18 year olds, many from BAME backgrounds, with employers. We’d encourage as many employers as possible to get involved in this hugely rewarding initiative, to really help change young people’s lives – find out more here Career Ready
